
Constructive Creases

Responding to the plastic surgery culture in Korea, this paper installation illustrates the nature of reconstructive surgery: the ironic idealization of beauty, and irreversibility. I took images of myself and manipulated them through a system alluding to the prevalence and infatuation with a specific image of beauty.

An exploration led to a set of photographs where I integrated this medium-specific sculpture, generated by simplifying facial structures, into raw materials.

A further extension of the previous works, I created a sculpture referencing to the idealization of beauty, repetition, ornamentation through a circular form that represents the idea of perfection.
